Kate and Lynne warmly invite you to make yourself at home during your New Zealand travel, in our spacious and comfortable Auckland bed and breakfast. 10 minutes from Auckland central city, Ponsonby Rd, Parnell and close to other attractions.

At The Big Blue House we provide a welcoming & safe haven for travellers. We are women friendly, family, and children friendly; women, families and children welcome.

Two large double-rooms are generously equipped with:

* Comfortable king-sized beds with quality linen, electric blankets, TV (video), fridge, writing desk, luxury towels, robes, slippers and toiletries.
* All you need to make hot drinks including a variety of teas, plunger coffee, hot chocolate, with complimentary bottled water, cookies and chocolate mints.
* Also a CD player, free Wireless Internet connection, and comfortable sofa and chairs.

Our Hideaway Room provides budget accommodation for the single traveller:

* Large single bed with TV, writing desk and hand-basin.
* Luxury towels, robes, slippers and toiletries.
* Access to kitchen for a full variety of hot drinks and cookies.

Spacious and furnished for comfort with spectacular views of Waitakere Ranges and upper Harbour. An extra single bed and rollaway for families, with refrigerator for milk, wine and personal provisions.

Hideaway Room $80 single
Quiet, snug and comfortable. Bed single-king, TV, desk, chair, basin in room with bathroom next door, gown and slippers provided, and help yourself to tea and coffee from our kitchen nearby·

Breakfasts and dinners at The Big Blue House:

* Seasonal fruits shipped from Central Otago, homemade yoghurt, specialty preserves, freshly made bread each morning, with a variety of cheeses, choice of cereals, and freshly brewed drip, expresso, or plunger coffee - 7 days
* At the weekends treat your self, try Lynne's hash browns with a full cooked breakfast - any combination of bacon, organic sausages, eggs - any style, tomato, and baked beans - ($10 extra) and with a bottle of bubbly ($20 extra).
* You can book our three course dinner with complimentary wine available by arrangement. Roast lamb and pavlova is a popular choice ($50). Your guests are welcome - children under 16 years $25 and if under 6 years free.

* Walking distance from our local deli and Richmond Rd's cafes (Delicious and Savour & Devour) and Auckland's oldest organic food supplier - Harvest Foods.
* Short bus rides to Jervois and Ponsonby Rds' diverse cafes, delis and restaurants, including the award-winning Vinnies and the well-known Troy.
* A more casual meal is available at The Gables, our local pub.
