Auckland

TE ATATU (“The Dawn” in Maori)

Dawnhaven Bed & Breakfast is a design-built, contemporary home located at the furthermost tip of Te Atatu Peninsula, with a stunning 180 degree view taking in the western end of Auckland’s harbour, “The Waitemata”, right round to Sky Tower and the City Centre. It is located in a calm, neighbourly cul-de-sac with easy parking, shops and public transport just down the road.

The gardens, which boast a swimming pool and raised deck, slope down to the mangroves and to the water’s edge where a public walkway runs almost the full length of the Peninsula.

Located 15/20 minutes from Auckland City, 45 minutes from the international airport, it is convenient for travelling both north and south.

Dawnhaven Bed & Breakfast offers a warm welcome to all discerning travellers and is women friendly.

Walk in the front door - leave the outside world behind you - take a look at the view and relax.

Your Hosts

Barbara, Helen and their cats, Pearl, Miss Daisy and Tootsie look forward to offering you an informal and friendly welcome and to helping you plan your trip.

Barbara was born and educated in Britain before moving to France where she spent most of her professional life. She came to New Zealand in 2006 and loves the outdoors, gardening, DIY and the cinema.
She is proficient in French, German and Spanish and, having gone through the process of moving from one end of the world to the other and buying property, is happy to offer advice on re-location.

Helen is a New Zealander who spent several years in Paris studying and teaching English. As a “postie” she has a thorough knowledge of Auckland, enjoys reading, music, the cinema and improving her French.

Both have travelled extensively throughout the world and are committed members of a large international peace organisation.

They also recently discovered the invigorating joys of Nordic pole walking and are currently setting up a West Auckland group. They would be happy to introduce you to this hitherto little known sport which is really starting to take off in New Zealand. Not only is it accessible to people of all of ages, shapes and sizes but the techniques enable you to walk faster, better, at the same time improving your posture and body movement and losing the calories as you take in the native scenery.
